Nakbah at 60

Has it really been only 60 years? Only 60 years of occupation, subjugation, humiliation, oppression? Why does it feel like a lifetime? Wait… 60 years IS a lifetime for many.
What can be said on this occasion that has not already been said?
Countless words have been spoken, but those who talk the talk are too cowardly to walk the walk.
I don’t want to keep counting every year. I want to stop counting next year. I remembered 58. And 59. I don’t want to commemorate 61.
This man’s journey is just one story, of millions. Millions who do not want their story forgotten. Who do not want to be ignored.

Al-Jazeera Reporter Freed From Guantanamo!

I was ecstatic to hear that Al-Jazeera cameraman Sami Al-Hajj has been released today by American authorities after spending SIX and a half years in the prison at Guantanamo Bay. I previously blogged about his ordeal.
